A very heartbreaking loss

This past Monday we traveled to Pas Giannina for what proved to be a very hard away game. Pas outplayed us for the entire first half to be quite honest. They would open the scoring in the 35th minute after a Korovesi tap in after a scramble in our box where Koutroubi and Tsoupro failed to clear the ball.

Just 4 minutes later things got worse for us. In the 39th minute Georgiou would make it 2-0 with a calm finish after a good through ball from Korovesi into the heart of our defense. We went into the half down 2-0 and in a very troublesome situation.

We needed drastic changes to amp up the team so we can at least get a point from this crucial match. In the second half Pas would sit back and become a much more defensive side in the second half and protect their 2 goal lead, rightfully so.
We would pick up our game slightly in the second half and tried breaking down their defense, to no avail however. The game would end 2-0, a very depressing loss for AEKARA. We played poorly throughout the entire game and honestly didn’t deserve the three points.
This was the worst thing that could ever happened to us. After this heartbreaking loss we currently find ourselves in 14th place still on 30 points. We somehow find ourselves back in the relegation zone with Kerkyra who is already going to the second division, and Ari who is on 29 points.
The good news is that one of our standout players Taxiarxis Fountas is returning from suspension and will surely help us on the offensive side of the ball, somewhere where we really struggled against Pas.
Our next match is a massive game at home, on the 14th of April against Panthrakiko who is also on 30 points but is ahead of us on goal difference. This is a must win, a tie will not cut it for us because with a tie we will still be behind them on goal difference.
We are also tied with Veria but they too are ahead of us of goal difference. We MUST get the three points against Panthrakiko and hope that Veria who is taking on Platanias, OFI who is taking on Atromitos, and Ari who is taking on Astera Tripolis all drop points so we can climb above them and escape the dreaded relegation zone once and for all.
