HC Dinamo Minsk took part in an international tournament in France’s Grenoble. Dinamo advanced to the third-place game in which they narrowly lost to Croatia’s HC Zargeb 27:29. In the first fixture of the competition the champions of Belarus also succumbed to a defeat, 25:32, against Montpellier Agglomeration Handball.

The tournament in Grenoble was part of Dinamo’s preparation for the EHF Champions League qualifying tournament, which first game will take place in Slovakia’s Presov. On 31 August the Minsk club are set to play there against AEK from Athens, Greece. If Dinamo win this game, they will enter the next match against the better team in the match where Tartan Presov (Slovakia) will take on Besiktas (Turkey). The winner of both these games will progress to Group C of the EHF Champions League, the most prestigious club tournament in Europe. Playing in the group will be Spain’s Barcelona, FYR Macedonia’s Vardar, France’s PSG, Switzerland’s Thun and the winner of the qualifying tie HC Metalurg Skopje (FYR Macedonia) vs. SC Pick Szeged (Hungary).

Last season HC Dinamo Minsk managed to advance to the last 16 round of the EHF Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.
