We took on Panthrakiko at home at the Olympiaco Stadio in a must win game in order to survive and remain in the first division. It was also Della’s first game as coach after Leinen was sacked earlier in the week.

There wasn’t a lot of action in the first half, both teams didn’t create much as well. The first half ended at 0-0, we needed to find a way to break through in the second half and get that all important goal. We needed to push on in search for it.
Instead in the 87th minute Bougaidi would score an own goal after a weak cross from the left hand side. Straight after Bougaidi put the ball into his own net, hundreds of angry fans stormed the field. All the players and the three referees sprinted off the field, almost as if they were running for their lives, a very scary sight to say the least.
All theses angry fans that invaded the field started breaking things and lite up several fotovolides and kapnogones and tore the Olympiaco Stadio up. The match was abandoned due to the invasion of the field.
After the stadium cleared up both coaches agreed to finish up the 3 or so remaining minutes of the game, but the referee refused to go back on the field. A couple of hours after the game was officially abandoned the league would give us a 3 point deduction due to all the riots that happened.
This is the worst possible news for us. We now have 27 points and are officially relegated alongside Kerkyra. I personally never saw this happening to such a historic team. This is like dream, I can’t believe we just got relegated.
This isn’t and shouldn’t stop us however, AEK is a historic team we will win the second division next year and climb right back up to the first division where we belong. Lets think of it as a rebuilding process.
We need a new owner that can actually invest money and help us get stronger, because lets face it we can’t win with teenagers out there, its just does not happen.
Hopefully we keep Fountas as well, because for me he was our stand our player this year. He is only 17 too, he is only 6 months older than me thats crazy. With a little work and maturity he is going to be one of the top players in a couple years.
We must stay together during this tough time. Surely the toughest time in my AEK life for sure. We will be back and stronger then ever just like the good old days, I promise you this. I believe that we can do this. One team, one love AEKARA.
